As a general, banner ad, or web banner, is an ad that appears on a web page. The advertisement consists of either an image (.jpg,.png,.gif), or a multimedia object (usually created with Flash). Banner advertising may therefore be either static or animated, depending on the technology used to render them.


People were used to understand banner as an intended to attract traffic to our website by connecting to it and from there we can try to close the deal, whatever our deal is. But we have to do that by assigning a task to our banner ad to see what suits best in that particular sense. Online banners operate the same way traditional print media ads does: they advertise, they alert us of a new product, they capture our eye, they raise brand recognition and so on.


A web banner or banner is a type of advertisement distributed via an ad server on the World Wide Web. This form of online advertising involves embedding ads into a web page. It's meant to attract traffic to a website by linking to the advertiser's website. In many instances a central ad server delivers banners.


Banner ads are based on photos instead of text, and are a common form of website advertising. Banner advertising has the aim of promoting a brand and/or getting visitors from the host website to go to the advertiser's website.


In short, banner ads have the same basic function: we click on this image / multimedia item on a web page and our internet browser will take we to the website / landing page of the advertisers. They are simple yet very important pieces of html and their presence on the web may make a big difference for companies and brands based on the internet.
